In a previous Formula Friday Blog Post last week, which you can see here I went through 3 methods to enter formulas into Excel, some quicker than others, and I challenged readers to try methods 1 or 2 which do not invlove using the mouse.
If you are stuck on using the mouse, which I admit I did early on when using Excel, then adding the operator symbols to the Quick Access Toolbar (QAT) is a great way to speed up formula entry in to Excel.
You can add your favorite icons to the QAT and then, because the Quick Access toolbar is always visible, you can have your most-used icons without having to switch ribbon tabs. Before you add any extra icons to the QAT starts out as a small bar with the icons Save, Undo, and Redo. It initially appears above the ribbon, above the File menu, as shown here.
If you prefer, you can have it positioned below the ribbon which gives a bit more room for icons and moves it nearer your worksheet which is nice. Ok, so let’s get our operators on the QAT.
- Right click the QAT
- Select More Commands
- Choose Commands Not In The Ribbon
This is where you will find the operator Icons. Select the sign you want and hit Add to add to the QAT.
The oeprator Icons are now easily accessbile on your QAT. Give it a go. Kinda handy.
