Do you need to clear just the numbers from your Excel worksheet?. I know I do this regularly if I have a worksheet I want to re -use for example a generic input form and I want to keep all of the text and formulas intact.
I have found the quickest way to delete just the numbers form my Excel cells is to use the GoTo Special Command. This is found under the Find and Select button on the Home Tab ( Excel 2007-10).
All you need to do next is select Constants and un-check everything EXCEPT the numbers option.
After that just hit the Delete key to remove the values.
Job done!.

I am sorry, but in Excel 2010, this example of leaving formulas in cells does not work! What am I missing. I am an instructor and feel pretty stupid right now! Thanks for your help.

Hey Tom
I use this on a regular basis….in Excel 2010, no problems.
There is no drop down menu in which to select or de-select the numbers option. Now what?
you can hit f5 and see GoTo Special
select Constants and un-check everything EXCEPT the numbers option
Hi It really doesn’t work. After I click ‘Ok’, the system mentions that no cell has been found and it is definitely wrong. 🙁
Check your formatting, are your cells containing numbers .ie not text
It clears all cells that contains only numbers. Does not clear a cell that contain text and numbers together.
