Control How Excel Interprets Percentages

When you format cells in Excel as percentages, Excel will then automatically format the cells as you type into them. All is well and good if your figure is under 1, once you start to enter figures greater than or equal to one you end up with nightmarish figures like 400% or 900%. Is there a way to avoid this and get Excel to interpret all your figures inputted correctly as percentages?- of course there is.

Here is how you do it.

  • Office Button
  • Excel Options
  • Advanced
  • Editing Options
  • Enable Automatic Percent Entry

There you go easy as that!
