Add Keywords To Your Excel File Properties To Make Workbook Searches Quicker

The more information you have stored on your Excel files, file the easier they are to find. In Windows you can search for files based on the file’s author or it’s title or by certain keywords associated with that file. You can also search on the document status and comments relating to your work book. Adding this type of Meta Data greatly increases your ease of searching for Excel work books. Here is how to add keywords to your Excel file properties.

You need to navigate to the Document Information Panel.
  • File Tab
  • Hit info
  • Select Poperties drop down tab
  • Choose Show Document Panel
Here, in the standards version of the Document panel you will see a number of fields, one of them being KEYWORDS.
Just enter the keywords you want to identify with your Excel files, in my example above I have chosen Sales Data. Easy as that!
