Quick Formatting with Excel Format Painter


We all love a bit of formatting, but copying and/or repeating formatting can be a big pain unless you use the super format painter.  So, here is how to quickly copy formatting from one worksheet to another worksheet or workbook.

There’s a few ways to make the most of this feature:-

 
1. To copy formatting to adjacent cell/s in Excel using Format Painter

  • Add the formatting you want to to at least one of your cells.
  • Click on that cell to make it the active cell
  • Click the Format Painter Icon
  • Click the first cell you want to format and/or drag to complete your selection

 

2. To copy formatting to non adjacent cells in Excel using Format Painter

  • Add the formatting you want to to at least one of your cells.
  • Click on that cell to make it the active cell
  • Double click the Format Painter Icon
  • Click on the first cell you want to copy the formatting to and then continue clicking on additional cells to copy the formatting to these cells as well
  • Click on the Format Painter icon on the formatting toolbar to turn it off
